"Part of the whole Girl Scout ideal is teaching and learning. We cannot protect our children from bad things entirely but teaching them how to handle things and cope properly, that is one of the best things we will ever teach our children, especially our girls. And it starts with us as the adults in their lives helping them face whatever life throws out there with dignity, grace and self confidence."

  Resource Area

The front lobby area of the Girl Scout Service Center is designed and maintained for our Girl Scout volunteers.

Bulletin boards contain current information about upcoming Girl Scout events and community activities that are suitable Girl Scout outings. The Council Calendar lists all the major Girl Scout activities taking place in the council.

Self service kiosks contain forms, help sheets and fliers about upcoming Girl Scout activities and events. There is room to sit down and browse through materials, too. A copy machine is available for use at a nominal cost. A computer provides volunteers with access to the Internet.

The council has an assortment of equipment – flags, banners, ceremony props, and camping and sports equipment – available for troops/groups to use. Resource materials, like books and videos, etc., are organized by subject and located in the Resource Library in the back of the Council Shop. Equipment and resource materials are available for check out through the receptionist at no cost.

Activity Kits

Previously offered Program Center Workshops are available as Activity Kits. These kits have the instructions and supplies you’ll need to conduct several activities that will fill a troop meeting or two. Each kit contains more ideas than you will need, so you can select and/or modify them to suit your girls’ interests and abilities.

Activity Kits can be checked out for up to three weeks. Activity Kits require a $10 refundable deposit check per kit in addition to the $10 rental fee. Your $10 deposit check will be held and returned to you when each kit is returned in good condition. Activity Kits are located in the resource library inside the Council Shop, and comes equipped with instructions, most of the supplies and items needed to conduct several activities for groups with up to 20 girls.

Art to Wear

This activity kit inspires imagination. Experience tie dying, face painting and wearable art.  Create stories and design ceremonial masks.  Brownie Girl Scouts complete activities for Art to Wear Try-It.

Bubble Magic

Learning science is easy when it’s this much fun. Watch as your girls are trapped in the world of bubbles (and inside a giant bubble themselves!) during this activity that teaches about mixtures and solutions, bubble art, and bubble magic!

Centsibility (ages 9-11)

Girl Scouts flex their fiscal muscles and discover the importance of money management. During this activity, girls will earn, spend, save and invest so they can make “cents” and experience a strong economic future.

Cookin’ in the Kitchen

This activity is packed with loads of kitchen fun. Experience cooking basics, make an edible moon, spark girls’ entrepreneurial spirit and start a mini herb garden.

Kitchen Khemistry

There is more fun to be had in the kitchen than just eating. So many things we use in our daily lives have fascinating and useful scientific properties. This Activity Kit guides you into an intriguing world of experiments and science fun!
