"I have been an adult volunteer for eight years. I have worked with adults and girls to help them develop their potential and build self confidence. Girl Scouting has provided me opportunities to develop organizational and leadership skills. But the thing I cherish most is the lifelong friendships."

  Volunteer Development

Throughout this membership year our focus will be on how to create a better “volunteer experience” within our organization. What will it feel like? Envision an environment where volunteers and staff consistently reflect the Girl Scout Mission and values toward one another and to our client – the girl. It will be a pleasant, supportive, empowering, open environment where everyone is encouraged to reach her or his full potential.

We are starting off the membership year with an emphasis on effective recruitment, and placement of volunteers to achieve increased service delivery to girls. Our multi-faceted image building campaign is designed to increase the public’s awareness of Girl Scouting and to appeal for quality volunteers to get involved in positively changing the course of a girl’s life forever.

Encourage your friends and acquaintances to get involved, or get reinvolved. Invite them to attend one of the following short term volunteer orientation sessions.

SHORT-TERM VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

Designed for adults who are interested but aren’t sure about how best to contribute. Participants will receive an orientation overview of Girl Scouting, learn about the various volunteer opportunities available, and how our talent match service assists in finding ideal placements. You may leave with a short-term volunteer placement to help you get better acquainted, or you may submit your interest indicator and volunteer application for a future placement. Even if you decide being a Girl Scout volunteer is not in your immediate future, you will have greater understanding of the Girl Scout Movement and your own volunteer service interests.
