"I have been an adult volunteer for eight years. I have worked with adults and girls to help them develop their potential and build self confidence. Girl Scouting has provided me opportunities to develop organizational and leadership skills. But the thing I cherish most is the lifelong friendships."

  Volunteer Positions

The Girl Scout Council of the Mid-South is an organization fueled by the passion of our volunteers to positively serve the girls and our community.  We recognize that some individuals may not have the time or desire to serve as a Girl Scout troop leader.  Below you will find several ways you may become a Girl Scout volunteer, supporting and serving the girls of our community.

Episodic  - The episodic volunteer has the opportunity to participate in activities with a minimal time commitment.  For example, the episodic volunteer could coordinate a one-time event or an annual project or share a special talent or skill with the girls for as little as a few minutes.  As an episodic volunteer, you can choose a time commitment that fits your schedule.

Virtual  - As a Girl Scout virtual volunteer, you can participate in the lives of the girls without being physically present, working behind the scenes to organize activities or events or offering clerical or administrative support to the council staff.

Corporate – Corporate volunteerism is an opportunity for local businesses to support our Girl Scout ideals and goals by encouraging employees to become involved in the Girl Scout program by serving as board members, group leaders or task group volunteers.  Through this process, businesses provide leadership opportunities for their employees while modeling good citizenship and community participation for the girls we serve.

Of course we invite you to become a traditional Girl Scout troop leader, or to fill other volunteer roles within the Girl Scouts.   The volunteer’s level of participation is flexible.  Our council staff will work with each volunteer to create a volunteer role that best suits their time, talents, or special skills.   We encourage everybody in our community to share their passions, whether these are athletic, artistic, academic, or philanthropic, with the girls of our community.

Should you decide that you would like to become a volunteer, please contact the Girl Scout Service Center at 901-767-1440.

Please feel free to contact us to discuss any aspect of participating in Girl Scouts.  We will be happy to meet with you, at your convenience, to discuss how we can custom fit a volunteer opportunity for you or your company.
